Benefits of In‑Situ Valve Testing

Fenflow Limited offers S‑O‑L‑T® Safety Valve On‑Line Testing, enabling live in‑situ testing of safety and relief valves while your plant continues operating. This method eliminates the need to remove valves from service or shut down the system, meaning greater uptime, reduced production disruption, and ongoing regulatory compliance.

How S‑O‑L‑T® Testing Works

Our trained valve engineers begin with an evaluation and fault assessment to ensure the valve is in an appropriate condition for testing and to detect underlying issues early improving safety and reliability.

During S‑O‑L‑T® testing:

  • Valves are tested under actual operating conditions,  so results reflect real system performance.

  • A controlled force is applied to simulate the conditions that cause the valve to lift and re‑seat.

  • Advanced instruments capture real‑time performance data, including set pressure, lift behaviour, re‑seat accuracy, and any drift from required tolerance levels.

This in situ approach avoids plant shutdown and removes the need to dismantle, transport, and bench test valves , saving time, cost, and potential handling damage.

Key Benefits of S‑O‑L‑T® On‑Site Testing

Minimises Production Downtime — testing is done while systems run normally, avoiding costly plant stops.
Accurate In‑Place Performance Data — provides reliable validation of set pressure and lift behaviour under real conditions.
Detailed Electronic Reports — digital test results and reports can be stored, referenced, and used for audits or maintenance planning.
Compliance & Certification — meets relevant safety and insurance requirements by documenting valve performance.
Proactive Maintenance Insight — performance trends can reveal early faults before failure occurs, improving long‑term plant reliability.
Retains Valve Service Life — valves that pass can remain in service longer, reducing the frequency of full workshop overhauls.

Asset Management & Inspection Notifications

To support ongoing compliance and equipment reliability, we provide comprehensive valve asset management services. This includes:

  • Tracking all valves’ inspection and test dates.

  • Automated notifications when testing is due — helping you stay ahead of statutory or insurance deadlines.

  • Full test history records for audit and maintenance planning.

This proactive approach ensures your safety system remains current and compliant, avoiding costly expiring inspections or unexpected failures.
